What is the Backpack Program?
Weekend Food For Kids
The Backpack Program provides nutritious, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food to children to ensure they get enough food on weekends to avoid hunger when they cannot depend on school meals.
Who do we serve?
With the help of our community, churches, and local businesses we supply 2700 backpacks of weekend food to students in Madison County Schools and 800 backpacks in Estill County Schools.
How can I help?
You can sponsor a child in need in our community for $10 a month. For more information, please call 859-623-2220 or email info@godsoutreach.org.
Madison County Backpack Program
This program bridges the gap that exists when school lunch is not available on weekends. Children in need are confidentially identified by their teachers and receive food that will sustain them over the weekend. We serve 20 schools with approximately 2700 backpacks of food each month.
Estill County Backpack Program
Children in need are confidentially identified by their teachers and/or resource workers and receive easy to prepare foods for the weekend. We serve approximately 800 backpacks each month in Estill County Schools.
